Floral Fabric

Floral prints are making its way back this season. You can see a lot of women sporting this look everywhere. Its popularity is still increasing and if you decide

to look in almost all of the boutiques and you are surely to find quite a lot of blouses and dresses that have floral prints in them. But who wouldn’t love floral designs? These patterns are fun, flirty, and perfect for a modern woman.

Why go floral?

Many think that floral fabric is just a bit too girly for their tastes. This is because flowers have always been equated with femininity. Back in the days, women were accustomed to adorning their hair and clothes with flowers since it helped them look sweet and dainty. But through the years, floral fabric styles have evolved in a sense that it became more versatile. Clothes made with floral patterns can be worn in almost all occasions and it works well with different kinds of styles.

Another thing that is great about wearing floral is that it can help you nail certain looks. Depending on the style of the clothes as well as the accessories, floral fabric can be transformed into a more vintage look, a sophisticated one, or even a rugged but feminine look. Floral patterns are indeed a great way of expressing a woman’s personal style without sacrificing womanliness.

Are there different types?

Naturally, there are a whole bunch of fabrics that are adorned with floral patterns but not all of them can be used for making clothes. Some may be used for making curtains, beddings, table cloths, and many more. To give you a fairly good idea on the types of floral fabric, here are a few examples:

  • Silk

When floral fabric is made from silk, then you can expect a smooth, supple and delicate quality as it is said that this type of fabric is one of the most luxurious fabric materials. This type of fabric is very subtle to the touch and at the same time very light to wear. Likewise, the draping or the fall of the fabric is excellent as it just tends to flow like water and it drapes perfectly on to the contours of the body.

  • Cotton

If it is utmost comfort that you are looking for, then look for floral patterns made from cotton fabric. This type of material is likewise soft to the touch but it is a bit thicker than that of silk. It tends to be a bit stiffer too. Nevertheless, it does not fail to provide great comfort when worn as a clothing material. It is airy which makes it an ideal material for summer clothing.

  • Satin

Satin is also a very delicate woven fabric just like silk. It has a smooth texture and has shimmering effects which is why floral patterns, when incorporated printed on this fabric, appear to glow. What makes it different from silk, however, is that it has a dull back lining that is a bit rough to the touch. But it still has that rich quality that is suitable for making clothes.

Choosing a Floral Fabric Design

It is usual that when the scent of spring starts to waft through the air, fashion takes its turn to floral prints. With hats, tops, bottoms, shoes, and accessories

that have floral designs, a girl can truly feel like one. Wearing floral fabric and prints around this time will surely be in season.

Ushering in the season with spring fashion is actually very ideal. Girls can really feel girly in the prints. Aside from the traditional floral prints with cute and dainty flowers, the current trend gives and adds a little something more. Bolder and bigger floral prints are making its way to town. If you want to wear floral prints, you should remember a few things.

Choosing a floral fabric and print to wear is dependent on your body part. If you have a petite body, go for small floral prints because big ones will make you look fuller and awkward because your proportions are not right. If you have an average framed body, you are simply very lucky. You can wear any floral print that you like. If you are on the tad heavy side or if you have a curvy body, avoid big floral prints in your heavy areas because it will only magnify them more. Go for small prints in order to make wonders.

Yes, it is true that spring means that a lot of different flowers are in bloom but you do not have to clutter your entire outfit or look with them. When it comes to floral fabric and print, simplicity is the key. If you have a floral dress, wear simple and plain sandals or shoes. If you are wearing a floral top or bottom, match it with plain items as well. Also, never put on too much accessories. Avoid floral on floral looks because it may simply look tacky. Too much floral can be an eye sore.

You also need to consider your personal style. You can dress up or dress down floral prints to suit your taste. You can go girly or you can go a bit boyish and edgy. For the latter, you can go for a print that has a darker color. For example, you can wear a black floral dress and layer it with a leather jacket on top. Wear boots for your footwear and accessorize with a chunky necklace. The key is to not overdo it and wear coordinated pieces.
Spring is the season for flowers. Welcoming it by wearing pretty floral fabric prints the right way will make you feel as pretty as the flowers that are in bloom.
