Why go floral?
Many think that floral fabric is just a bit too girly for their tastes. This is because flowers have always been equated with femininity. Back in the days, women were accustomed to adorning their hair and clothes with flowers since it helped them look sweet and dainty. But through the years, floral fabric styles have evolved in a sense that it became more versatile. Clothes made with floral patterns can be worn in almost all occasions and it works well with different kinds of styles.
Another thing that is great about wearing floral is that it can help you nail certain looks. Depending on the style of the clothes as well as the accessories, floral fabric can be transformed into a more vintage look, a sophisticated one, or even a rugged but feminine look. Floral patterns are indeed a great way of expressing a woman’s personal style without sacrificing womanliness.
Are there different types?
Naturally, there are a whole bunch of fabrics that are adorned with floral patterns but not all of them can be used for making clothes. Some may be used for making curtains, beddings, table cloths, and many more. To give you a fairly good idea on the types of floral fabric, here are a few examples:
- Silk
When floral fabric is made from silk, then you can expect a smooth, supple and delicate quality as it is said that this type of fabric is one of the most luxurious fabric materials. This type of fabric is very subtle to the touch and at the same time very light to wear. Likewise, the draping or the fall of the fabric is excellent as it just tends to flow like water and it drapes perfectly on to the contours of the body.
- Cotton
If it is utmost comfort that you are looking for, then look for floral patterns made from cotton fabric. This type of material is likewise soft to the touch but it is a bit thicker than that of silk. It tends to be a bit stiffer too. Nevertheless, it does not fail to provide great comfort when worn as a clothing material. It is airy which makes it an ideal material for summer clothing.
- Satin
Satin is also a very delicate woven fabric just like silk. It has a smooth texture and has shimmering effects which is why floral patterns, when incorporated printed on this fabric, appear to glow. What makes it different from silk, however, is that it has a dull back lining that is a bit rough to the touch. But it still has that rich quality that is suitable for making clothes.
